It appears that movie attendance in Canada is down, the biggest reason for that in my opinion, is piss poor movies! I'd like to go to the movies more, but I have been finding it very hard to find any decent movies to go see. There is nothing new and exciting coming out at all, all remakes and crap. Full story here

If you see a new movie in the theatre, count how many of the previews are originals, omitting the sequels and remakes. It is disgustingly low.
The point about the lack of originality is right on the mark. If I am going to spend over $20 for me and my wife to see a movie, it darned well better be original.
And in general when you walk into a movie theatre don't you just get the general feeling that you are getting ripped off? In general, the movies suck. The cost of a ticket is too high. And finally the price of food is outrageous.
I don't really care to go to a place and spend my money if that place makes me feel like a sucker.

DVD's are getting cheaper and easier to produce. just wait 5 months and the new movie will be out in stores like that!

I don't remember if I have ever gone to the movie theatres more than twice a year!
The quality of the scripts is often very low, especially for U.S. movies...
Last week, on the SUPER ÉCRAN channel, I saw a terrible and unforgettable french movie titled EFFROYABLES JARDINS. The story is on the WWII, but is far from away the U.S. way of telling stories : no special effects!!!
But a very strong, imaginative, interesting and poignant script.
I just hope that you have one day the chance to see it translated in English!
